Cheryl Burke has got engaged.
The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ pro celebrated her 34th birthday in the perfect way on Thursday (03.05.18) when her boyfriend Matthew Lawrence popped the question – and she said yes, taking to Instagram to post a number of selfies featuring her new stunning diamond sparkler.
She added the caption: "OMG! So far so good for 34! #amilliontimesyes #imengaged #herecomesthebride (sic)"
Cheryl and Matthew first met on the set of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the mid-00s and went on to date for nearly a year before going their separate ways in 2008.
The pair started seeing each other again in early 2017 and by the summer they were said to be taking their relationship "slowly", but she was "more in love than ever".
A source said at the time: "Cheryl and Matthew are very serious. They are super happy.
"They tried to keep their relationship on the down low for several months and were taking it very slow, but now they are extremely serious.
"Cheryl thinks that ‘second time’s a charm’ and she is more in love than ever and Matthew absolutely reciprocates the same feelings."
Cheryl’s engagement announcement comes just two months after she revealed she was taking a break from social media.
She posted at the time: "I’m dealing with some personal things right now and need to take a break from social media. Thanks for understanding and remember to tell the people who are important to you just how much you love them each and every day. Xoxo Cheryl (sic)"
But the dancer has posted numerous times since then, including another message yesterday in which she admitted her 34th birthday feels like a "turning point" in her life, and she revealed plans to start a family.
She wrote: "Birthday’s can be filled with so many emotions, and even though this may not be a "milestone" birthday for me, it feels like a real turning point in my life.
A lot happened during 33, both good and bad- I got to share my passion with #LOTF and came back to #DWTS, I lost my father and came to terms with a lot of things that happened in my past. I’m so grateful for my family, boyfriend, friends and team who have supported me and believed in me every step of the way.
I’m ready now, though, for a new year and a fresh start. I have new goals at 34. I’m realizing that, physically, dance won’t last forever (that doesn’t mean I’m done yet!). I need to step out of my comfort zone and be open to new opportunities. I know that I want to start a family soon. I want to surround myself with good people and eliminate negativity from my life. I want to push myself to be the best version of me that I can be.
I may be another year older, but I’m just getting started. (sic)"
