Cheryl Baker claims Dancing on Ice fee isn’t ‘great’

Cheryl Baker wasn’t paid a "great" amount to do ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The Bucks Fizz singer has admitted she only signed up to the skating show, which has been rebooted following three years off air, because she didn’t know when her next job would come in and she needed the cash to pay her mortgage – but she doesn’t think the money is good enough in comparison to the time she spends training a week.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: "The money is not great in my opinion. I’ve been training six days a week since October. If you make it to the final it’s a six-month project, so the money isn’t much in comparison. In this industry you can go months at a time without a job though. You can’t turn the work down. I have to work. I have a mortgage and bills to pay. I’m not a saver, I never have been."
The 63-year-old star has been training with her partner Dan Whiston – whom she’s moved into her family home while she’s on the show – but has admitted she’s too scared to skate on her own in case she hurts her spine after after she was involved in a coach accident, which saw her thrown through the windscreen, 34 years ago.
She said recently: "I’m terrified of hurting my spine so I shove a back pad down my back. And it does soften the blow but I’m still suffering from my shoulder from that fall [on the ice during training a few weeks ago].
"I’m still having physio all the time and it aches. He does all these lifts and I’m meant to put my arms above my head."
