Chelsee Healey "cried" when she found out she was pregnant.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star has confirmed she and her boyfriend Jack Malloy, whom she’s been dating for three years, are expecting their first child together and, although the news came as a shock to them as they weren’t trying for a baby, she was overwhelmed with emotion when the test came back positive.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "When I saw the test was positive I started crying, but they were happy tears. It wasn’t something we’d planned but now we are having a baby we couldn’t be happier."
Jack added: "It was definitely a shock but I was over the moon when she told me. I think it’s still sinking in, I can’t wait to be a dad."
Although the couple are thrilled with their news, things haven’t exactly been plain sailing as they split in 2015 when Jack was jailed for 12 months for dangerous driving, using a vehicle without insurance and driving while disqualified.
The 28-year-old actress said: "It can be a bit upsetting because he’s really not [a bad boy]. Jack has been tarnished because of the mistakes he made in the past, but everyone makes mistakes. It’s a shame that people jump to conclusions about him because he’s a great guy, we’re very happy together. Jack is the only man who has ever felt like my best friend as well as my boyfriend."
Jack received early release in March last year for good behaviour but, although they gave it their best shot, him and Chelsee broke up again a few months later.
Although she’s only just joined ‘Hollyoaks’ as Goldie McQueen, her pregnancy and impending arrival won’t affect her future on the Channel 4 soap.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "This does not mean she will be leaving ‘Hollyoaks’. In fact, it signals a much more mature Chelsee, in a stable acting job in a long-running soap.
"Exec producer Bryan Kirkwood knew about her pregnancy very early on and plans are in place in terms of storylines and writing her in and out."
Chelsee first sparked rumours she was with child in January when she was spotted sporting a baby bump at the National Television Awards in London.
