Charlotte Bellamy has received "quite a lot of hassle" from people "tutting" at her in supermarkets after her ‘Emmerdale’ character had an affair.
The 45-year-old actress’ alter-ego Laurel Thomas recently hooked up with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), despite the cafe owner being in a relationship with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop), and as a result Charlotte has been targeted off set.
She said: "It’ll be a bumpy road, the whole blended family thing. I’m getting quite a lot of hassle, I have to say, from people.
"Everyone is very disappointed in Laurel having an affair, but it’s kind of boring being good isn’t it?"
When asked if she’s being shouted at in supermarkets, she replied: "Yeah. People are coming up and tutting at me.
"But it’s fine, I just take it on the chin."
Charlotte scooped a hat-trick of awards at last year’s British Soap Awards, including Best Actress, and she has tipped her co-star Emma Atkins – who plays Charity Dingle – to take home the prestigious viewer-voted prize this year.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added: "Emma has been on the show for over 18 years. She’s iconic, she’s brilliant all of the time so I really she gets that award. It would be amazing."
But Emma will face double ‘Coronation Street’ competition from Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) and Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), as well as from EastEnders’ Lacey Turner (Stacey Fowler) and ‘Hollyoaks’ actress Anna Passey (Sienna Blake).
