Charley Webb wishes ‘Emmerdale’ bosses hadn’t killed off Sheree Murphy’s character.
The 30-year-old actress is best friends with the former Dales star – who played Tricia Dingle on the ITV soap from 1998 to 2004 – and she is disappointed that her pal’s alter-ego was bumped off after part of the Woolpack fell on top of her during a huge storm.
When asked which ‘Emmerdale’ star she would like to see back on the show, she replied: "Sheree Murphy. Sheree is my best friend, but the character of Tricia was amazing, and they should never have killed her."
Charley has portrayed Debbie Dingle on the soap since 2002, and she loves being in scenes with her on-screen mother and father, Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle) and Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), because she finds them "easy".
She said: "If I know I have scenes with Jeff and Emma, I know it’s going to be easy, even if it’s really emotional – just because we are so in-tune and very close."
While Sheree cannot make a Dales return, soap stalwart Claire King reprised her role as Kim Tate earlier this year, and Charley has hinted her character could give the soap super-bitch a run for her money when she heads back to the Emmerdale village in 2019.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: "They are very different – Kim is an out-and-out bitch, but there’s sensitivity with Debbie.
"She’ still formidable, though – Debbie is hard, and she won’t give up."
