Charles Lawson has hinted at a return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 56-year-old actor has teased that he will reprise his role as bad boy Jim McDonald in the lTV soap this winter after speaking with his co-star Simon Gregson, who portrays his on-screen son Steve McDonald, every week since his exit.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Charles said: "I speak to Simon every fortnight or every week in fact, and he always lets me know what’s going on and I believe there’s the possibility of something happening sort of over the winter time. I had 11 years’ full time on there, 10 of which were brilliant and all the storylines since I’ve gone back have been good. You don’t bring Jim back just to have a pint in the Rovers. There’s always something big."
Details on Jim’s return are being kept tightly under wraps for now but it’s believed his arrival on the cobbles could have something to do with Steve’s recent baby bombshell.
The hapless businessman has just found out he’s expecting a baby with his neighbour Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) following a boozy bunk-up earlier this year.
However, although he’s desperate to be a part of his unborn child’s life, Steve is concerned his marriage with Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) will be over for good if she finds out about his one night stand with their good friend.
