Channel 4 planning celebrity stand-up show for charity

Channel 4 is reportedly working on a celebrity stand-up comedy show.

The broadcaster is said to be lining up some top comics two mentor five famous faces for the two-part special, which will raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Some of the best names in comedy are being lined up to take part in the show alongside five total novices.

"The idea behind the show is that each comic will be paired with a celeb and tasked with getting them ready to take part in a solo, stand-up set.

"They’ll be encouraging them to delve into their lives for funny anecdotes and will be teaching them core skills to make it as a comedian.

"The show is still being cast but names including Roman Kemp and Vicky Pattison are being bandied around."

It’s said bosses are looking to get a "good selection" of stars willing to push themselves with the ability to tell a good story.

The insider added: "They want to get a good selection of talent who aren’t wallflowers and who are good at telling a tale.

"Filming is pencilled in to take place later this year, as long as lockdown doesn’t scupper any of the plans."

It’s said the show is being put together by the same team behind ITV’s ‘The Only Way Is Essex’.

Earlier this month, sources opened up about plans for the first ever celebrity version of ‘The Circle’ – which is hosted by Emma Willis – with the likes of Denise van Outen, Charlotte Crosby and ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ star Baga Chipz being lined up.

The Stand Up To Cancer edition will have the same premise as the civilian show, which sees contestants living in their own flat within the same block and they can only communicate via a social media platform with the choice of using their real identity or fake profile.
