Catherine Tyldesley joins Channel 5 crime series

Catherine Tyldesley has landed her first post-‘Coronation Street’ role just five months after leaving the soap.
The former ‘Corrie’ actress – who played Eva Price in the ITV soap from 2011 to 2018 – has joined Channel 5 for an upcoming crime drama series, ’15 Days’, which will see the star play alongside ‘Unforgotten’ actor Tom Rhys Harries.
An insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Cath was offered big money to do reality TV shows, but she was determined to stick with acting."
Catherine’s role is unknown, but the storyline will open with a horrifying murder and then take viewers back in time by 15 days to show the disturbing events that occur before the tragedy.
The soap star previously teased a new show she has signed up for, admitting her alter-ego is "very different" compared to bubbly barmaid Eva.
She previously said: "I’m ready to embrace new projects. I’m super excited.
"I start filming my new project in January. That’s partly why we’re doing some special things over Christmas, because I’ll be away for a while.
"I can’t wait – it’s extremely well written and my character is very different to Eva."
The 35-year-old blonde beauty quit the cobbles after playing Eva for seven years, and admitted she found it tough to shoot some of her emotionally-charged exit scenes.
She previously told BANG Showbiz: "It is tiring, because obviously you have to go there to make it believable, so your nervous system doesn’t necessarily understand that you’re only pretending, so it is tiring, but I think you’ve just got to look after yourself and try and laugh as much in between.
"Shayne Ward (Aidan Connor) was always good for that."
