Catherine Tyldesley: Eva is more ‘vulnerable’

Coronation Street’s Eva Price is showing her "vulnerable side".

Catherine Tyldesley says it’s "nice to see" a softer side to her soap alter-ego after finding love with Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) in recent months.

Brassy Eva’s latest love connection is a stark contrast to her bad experiences with Nick Tilsley and Rob Donovan.

Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ this morning (30.07.14), Catherine said: "We are definitely seeing a more vulnerable side to her because she has found happiness and she’s finally with a guy she can trust.

"She has had so many trust issues in the past going right back from when her dad walked out on her as a child. It has given her a lot of issues.

"She’s really settled now with Jason and she’s very happy in the Rovers [Return pub] so we are seeing a different side to her which is really nice."

While Catherine, 30, is enjoying more positive times for Eva, she admits she misses her former on-screen mum Michelle Collins and grandmother Sue Johnston.

She said: "I was chatting to Sue yesterday. I miss them very much. You become so close. Obviously when they are playing your mum and your grandma, you see them more than your real mum and real grandma, so it’s weird without them there but we do keep in touch."
