Casey Batchelor believes she is spreading positivity by sharing her post-pregnancy weight loss journey on Instagram.
The 34-year-old television personality – who gave birth to her first child Florence with Dane Goodson earlier this year – has been sharing untouched photos of her body after childbirth and documenting her attempts to regain her hour glass figure.
Casey wants her posts to offer support to new mothers as it’s a "daunting task being a new mum" and she her posts are a way of letting other people know that "everybody struggles".
Speaking on ‘The Jeremy Vine Show’, she said: "Before social media, when there was no social media to share a lot of women did suffer from postnatal depression and it’s difficult being a mum it really is. There’s no one to ask are you OK, or are you suffering to? And social media gives a great platform – obviously if you use it in the right way – to let other people know that yeah everybody struggles, you’re not alone because it is a daunting task being a mum."
Although Casey thinks social media is a good way of spreading your message, she still believes you have to be careful as some people use Instagram to portray "the perfect life" and their profile isn’t a reflection of who they are.
She added: "With social media, you do have a lot of smoke and mirrors and people like to post the perfect life which isn’t great. I just feel like I use the platform for good rather than showing off in a way really."
However, Casey is cautious about what images she shares of her baby because she’s aware there are trolls who want to try and hurt you with your own posts.
She explained: "There’s a limit to what you can share, I [wouldn’t] share a picture of Florence in the bath but sharing something to help others and just the reality of things I think it’s nice to share."
