Candice Brown has been the first celebrity booted from ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner might been a baking champion, but she failed to make her mark on the ITV ice-skating competition as she found herself becoming the first celebrity to leave this series of the show.
Speaking to show hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby after her fate was sealed, she said: "Yeah, [I’m] just a bit [gutted]. But I did my best, I couldn’t have done any more."
Candice also praised her professional partner Matt Evers for being the "best" partner she could’ve asked for, and he in turn heaped praise on her.
He said: "She has learned a skill, something that is so foreign to her above everybody else that’s in the competition right now, and I’m so proud of you for doing that."
Candice and Matt found themselves in the dreaded skate-off after they failed to win the public’s vote last week.
After the remaining couples took to the ice on Sunday (14.01.18), it was revealed that Lemar would be the one to face the 33-year-old baker after he too received the fewest public votes.
Each pair then performed two new routines, and the judges – consisting of legendary skating duo Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean, as well as Ashley Banjo and Jason Gardiner – cast their votes on who to keep in the competition.
Both Ashley and Jason chose to save Candice, whilst Torvill voted for Lemar, and with Dean casting the deciding vote as this week’s head judge, it was Lemar who skated into safety.
Torvill and Dean’s decision to save Lemar comes after he was given less time to prepare than the other contestants, as he was drafted in after former cricketer Monty Panesar broke his ankle during training.
‘Dancing On Ice’ returns next Sunday (21.01.18) at 6pm on ITV.
