Camilla Thurlow didn’t want to go into the ‘Love Island’ villa as Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend.
The 28-year-old beauty hit the headlines in 2014 when she was romantically linked to the flame-haired hunk but, despite her history in the limelight, she wanted people to see her as an individual and get to know her for who she is, rather than who she has dated in the past.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Monday (31.07.17), she said: "I only went in there as Camilla, as myself, and that is what I wanted to show.
"You can’t help but be yourself in there. You’re in there for seven weeks and my main thing was making decisions that I could live with so I made sure I made the right choices."
Some viewers criticised Camilla towards the end of the series as she appeared to be very reserved in the beginning and then ended up sleep with her boyfriend Jamie Jewitt just days before the final – sparking speculation she was playing a game.
But she explained: "You do get more comfortable in there. It’s really interesting because I can see why people see that as a change but I’m 28 and the reason I’m reserved on that side of things is because I’ve made mistakes in the past and that has made me cautious about moving forward with people. I do things when I feel ready but at the same time I am a person and I respect my own wants and that was how I wanted to be in there."
Since leaving the famous villa last week, Camilla and Jamie have spent the majority of their time together and the blonde star even introduced him to her family in Scotland.
She said: "It’s been a bit of a whirlwind because Jamie came up to Scotland and met my family. We had our rounders in the park so that was fun. It was nice getting back to normality. She was actually a big fan, I never expected her to watch it but she loved it."
