Caitlyn Jenner is to participate in a women’s golf tournament.
The 66-year-old reality TV star – formerly known as Bruce Jenner before undergoing gender reassignment surgery last year – has signed up to take part in the women’s Pro-Am golf ANA inspiration tournament.
A spokesperson for Caitlyn says she’ll be attending the sports event on Wednesday (30.03.16) at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
A source close to the country club said: "Caitlyn has vowed she will attend and wants to represent ladies at the event."
The ‘I Am Cait’ star – who was an Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete – will use the golfing competition to make a stand for women golfers who feel they need to be treated more equally to men in the sport.
The source added to the New York Daily News newspaper’s Confidenti@l column: "She has a strong handicap and is obviously a natural born competitor. This event is a perfect way to make her announcement to the world that she is on the golf course as a woman and wants to be treated that way."
Caitlyn – a keen golfer who has played the sport for more than 15 years – could be paired up with US soccer star Abby Wambach at the event, however, it’s yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn – who was once married to Kris Jenner – attended the re-opening of the Sherwood Country Club earlier this month, where she was told she wouldn’t be able to perform in the men’s games and she was fine with it.
She said: "I think it’s cute that they said I couldn’t play because it’s an all-men’s tournament."
