Brooke Vincent has thanked ‘Coronation Street’ for keeping her "on the straight and narrow".
The 27-year-old actress has left the ITV soap and her role as Sophie Webster – who she has portrayed since 2004 – to go on maternity leave, and she has thanked the cast and crew after shooting her final scenes for now.
She wrote on Instagram: "I can’t believe 15 years ago I came onto the street to play "Sophie Webster" and today I left to play my biggest role yet "Mummy" my amazing family at Coronation Street I am going to miss you all so much thank you for always looking after me, for keeping me on the straight and narrow and for letting me get away with murder over the years. Also @kean8 for making my last day extra special coming home to the best treats!! I really am super lucky!! (sic)"
Brooke – who is expecting her first child with her footballer boyfriend Kean Bryan – shared two video clips of her final day on set, in which several of her co-stars, including Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), Mike North (Gary Windass), and Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) gave her a goodbye hug.
The star’s on-screen mum Sally Dynevor (Sally Webster) then presented her with some flowers, bringing Brooke to tears.
She said: "We are going to miss you. Brooke, we all love you so much. You’ve been here since you were 11, it’s ridiculous.
"This is your home, you can come back anytime you want to, bring the baby. New storyline. You are so loved, we adore you and you’re amazing."
Brooke joked the ‘Corrie’ production might "run a bit smoother" when she is not there.
She said: "You are like my family. I get away with absolute murder I know, it might run a bit smoother and you might finish on time now. Thank you so much."
