Britney Spears has delayed the release of her new single.
The ‘Piece of Me’ hitmaker was expected to drop her catchy track ‘Make Me (Oooh)’ any day now, but she’s been forced to push it back due to "technical production difficulties."
However, according to the Las Vegas Sun, the forthcoming song will reach fans by the end of summer and, when it does eventually arrive, the single and video are reportedly "all new, totally different and somewhat unexpected."
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old singer is scheduled to perform at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend (May 22) but it’s not yet known whether the delay in her single release will wreak havoc for her performance.
But, although she may not be able to belt out the lyrics to her new song, producers of the ceremony are keen to have her on board because she pulls in the biggest ratings.
A source said recently: "Everyone knows Britney brings in massive ratings, so it was a no-brainer for producers to try and get her on board."
However, even if the blonde beauty doesn’t get to perform at the glamorous ceremony, held at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, she certainly won’t walk away empty handed as she will be presented with the Millennium Award.
Britney has previously won six Billboard Music Awards and had six albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
However, Billboard’s Millennium Award is an extra special trophy as it acknowledges outstanding career achievements and influence in the music industry.
The award was previously presented to Beyoncé in 2011 and the late Whitney Houston in 2012.
