Britney Spears is auctioning off her MTV Video Music Awards outfit to raise money for the victims of the floods in Louisiana.
The ‘Make Me’ hitmaker has teamed up with the humanitarian charity Red Cross and fundraising site CrowdRise to offer every person who donates $10 the chance to either win the ensemble she wears on the night or a trip to the show in New York to meet the pop beauty at the ceremony held at Madison Square Garden on August 28.
Taking to Twitter to announce the raffle, Britney – who grew up in Kenwood, Louisiana – wrote : "I’ve teamed up with @RedCross and @crowdrise to raise funds for the victims of the horrible flooding in my home state of Louisiana … Every $10 donation is a chance to win the outfit I wear at the MTV VMAs or a trip to meet me in NYC for the show! (sic)
The 34-year-old singer later thanked her 47.2 million followers for their "support" helping to rebuild the lives of the people of Louisana who fell victim to the floods earlier this month.
She added: "Thank you all for the support for my @crowdrise campaign with @RedCross benefitting the Louisiana flood victims (sic)"
One of the biggest supporters are boyband Backstreet Boys, who took to Twitter to praise the blonde beauty for helping.
Britney re-tweeted their message, which read: "Love what our girl @britneyspears is doing to help those in need in Louisiana! (sic)"
Britney announced she was performing at the VMAs by sharing a teaser video with Britney items, including her red ‘Oops I Did It Again’ catsuit, the snake she carried on her shoulders during her 2001 performance of ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’ and the wedding dress she wore to perform in 2003.
A voiceover from the star states: "The VMAs don’t just give you a stage. They give you a story – some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever. Before you know it, it’s history. Before you know it, it’s Britney, bitch!"
It will be the first time she has performed at the awards show since 2007.
