Britain’s Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall hold star-studded reception

Britain’s Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall held a reception for British Oscar winners on Wednesday evening (04.05.16).
The 67-year-old royal was joined by his wife to toast the success of British actors, actresses and filmmakers across the pond.
Sir Michael Caine, who attended the event, was concerned about the number of people trying to join the film industry just to be "rich and famous".
He said: "These days they just say I’m going to an actor because I want to be rich and famous. And then they do a little part on television and everyone knows who they are. They can’t really act.
"I knew I wasn’t going to be rich, I knew I wasn’t going to be famous, I knew I wasn’t going to be a movie star, I just wanted to be a good actor, that’s all.
"They’re very young now. I was 30 before I became well known. I’ve watched it ruin people. By the time they’re 30, they’re through."
Whilst Dame Judi Dench expressed how she found it "worrying" that acting training is so expensive.
She shared: "I think it’s worrying that training is so expensive. I must have, I don’t know how many letters a week from young actors wanting to get to drama school and not having the money to get them through."
When asked how she and other British talent are so successful, she quipped back: "It’s called good luck. We have good training and we’ve got incredible young people who are trained in everything, they can dance and sing and act on the stage."
Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Dame Maggie Smith and Jeremy Irons were also in attendance at the event at St James’s Palace.
Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the company’s CEO Dawn Hudson and members of the Board of Governors also made an appearance.
Cheryl said: "Prince Charles was charming, he really was, so relaxed, so lovely … [British talent does so well because of the] commitment to training and the craft and creative".
