Brendan O’Carroll takes his entire family with him when he’s touring with ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’.
The 62-year-old actor – who stars as foul-mouthed matriarch Agnes Brown on the BBC series – has revealed that his beloved family followed him to Australia, when he toured the country with his comedy character for nine weeks.
Brendan – whose real-life wife, Jennifer Gibney, plays Agnes’ daughter on the programme – shared: "My daughter, my son, my daughter-in-law, my son-in-law, my six grandsons – one of them is in the show – my sister, my aunt and my youngest son directs the show.
"And when I’m on tour in Australia for nine weeks, eight o’clock every morning there’s a knock on the door and there’s six little boys there wanting to have tea."
‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ has inspired multiple TV series, five plays, a hit record and a musical, as well as a number of popular tours.
But Brendan still relishes touring the most, admitting he uses the popular BBC TV series as a shop window for the live shows.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, the comedian explained: "When the BBC came … and the BBC was asking for two years to make this … my best part of all of this is touring. I love being in a different city next week, or a different country next week.
"I thought TV might change that. So the approach I used with the BBC was to say, ‘What if I use the shows as a half-hour advert for the live show?’ And it worked. It really does."
