Brad Pitt’s sons were "disappointed" he couldn’t take them to see The Offspring over the weekend.
The 52-year-old actor – who is currently in the middle of a high profile divorce from his 41-year-old wife Angelina Jolie – has only seen his children a handful of times since the split and was set to spend some quality time with Maddox, 15, and Pax, 12, by taking them to see the punk rockers at Irvine Meadows in Los Angeles.
But he had to call off the trip after words of advice from his security team, leaving the pair "absolutely crushed".
A source told HollywoodLife.com: "Brad disappointed his older boys this weekend when he was unable to take them to see their favourite punk bands, The Offspring and Sublime, in concert in Los Angeles.
"Pax and Maddox were with Brad at their Los Feliz home over the weekend and super excited about going with their father to see a huge rock & roll show with their dad.
"Brad promised the two he would take them months prior to his split from Angelina.
"Brad intended on taking the boys too. But at the last-minute by recommendations from his security team, Brad thought it best to stay home, leaving the boys absolutely crushed."
Angelina has temporary physical custody of their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight.
The youngsters are said to be having a "hard time" trying to understand their parents’ situation.
The source added: "The boys are young and are having a hard time understanding everything that is happening with their parents.
"They want to know why they can’t just carry on with life normally."
