Bonnie Langford joins 42nd Street theatre production

Bonnie Langford has joined theatre production ’42nd Street’ after announcing she is departing ‘EastEnders’.
The former ‘Cats’ star is swapping the East End for the West End after landing the role of Dorothy Brock in the musical, which will take place at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, from September 3.
Bonnie – who previously played Peggy Sawyer in the production – told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I think I know the numbers."
Producer Michael Linnit added: "She knows every move – and every line."
Bonnie took to her Twitter account to confirm she has landed the role, and admitted she is excited about treading the boards once again.
She wrote: "thrilled to finally share the news. From the square @bbceastenders to the sidewalk @42ndStreetLDN (sic)"
But the soap star – who will depart her ‘EastEnders’ role as Carmel Kazemi this autumn – admitted she will have to delve into her inner diva to play the part of Dorothy.
She said: "The thing about Dorothy Brock is that she’s a bit of a diva – which I’m not. But I will find the Dorothy diva in me."
Bonnie became well known on the small screen for her portrayal of Doctor Who’s Mel Bush, a companion of both Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy’s Time Lords in the 1980s.
But she is also no stranger to the West End, previously appearing in the likes of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Chicago’ and ‘Peter Pan’.
Confirming her decision to depart ‘EastEnders’, she said in a statement: "I’ve had a wonderful three-and-a-half years at ‘EastEnders’ and it’s been a privilege to be part of such an iconic show.
"My storyline has been such an incredible experience and I’m honoured to be part of something so powerful and poignant.
"However, I’ve known since the beginning of this storyline it would always lead to Carmel having to take a break from Walford."
