Bonnie Langford "can’t bring herself" to watch Aston Merrygold’s dance-off on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress was in the audience of the ballroom and latin competition for the Halloween special two weeks ago because she was supporting her co-star Davood Ghadami and, although her loyalty lies with him, she thought the JLS singer was "phenomenal" and was devastated when she heard that he’d been booted off the show last weekend after he went up against Mollie King in the dance off.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I am absolutely, watching ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – Davood is brilliant. I missed the results show, but I did see the real live show and then I heard about it and it sounds terrible. I don’t think I can bring myself to watch it. Because I watched Aston do the Pasa Doble live I was in studio Halloween night, and he was phenomenal, he was absolutely phenomenal bang on, brilliant it was brilliant, so really sad but I guess that’s the nature of the beast."
Although he’s been given the chop, Aston and his professional partner Janette Manrara are planning to film the dances they had planned for the coming weeks on the show and will put them on YouTube.
Janette said: "Yeah we were thinking we might actually do that. It think it might happen."
Fans jumped to Aston’s defence after acid-tongue judge Craig Revel Horwood dished him a shocking four for his Viennese Waltz but, although he was "shocked" by the low mark, the 29-year-old star just laughed at it because he couldn’t quite believe it.
He said: "I’m honestly gutted, but you just have to take it on the chin. It’s such a brilliant show and I said from day one if I have to leave, I’m happy I got the chance to do it in the first place … When we got the four I laughed. I was like, ‘Is that a four?’ To me, it didn’t even feel as bad as that. It was just the shock."
