Blake Shelton: Gwen saved my life

Blake Shelton says his girlfriend Gwen Stefani "saved [his] life" last year.
The country singer split from his former wife Miranda Lambert in 2015 after four years of marriage, but insists his new girlfriend – who also separated from her husband Gavin Rossdale last year – has helped him get over his heartbreak.
He said: "I tell people all the time, ‘Gwen saved my life last year.’ She did.
"I think she’d tell you something similar about me."
The 39-year-old star admitted it doesn’t seem as though him dating 46-year-old Gwen – who has three children Kingston, nine, Zuma, seven, and Apollo, two, with ex Gavin – would "make sense" but insists their relationship is "perfect".
Speaking to CMT’s Katie Cook, he added: "It’s not something anybody could’ve seen coming besides God I guess because it doesn’t look like it would make sense.
"All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we’re at in our lives."
Gwen has admitted the pair became close after Blake sent her part of a song he’d written and asked her to finish it.
Speaking on Netflix’s ‘Chelsea’, she explained; "He had written this song and sent it to me on my phone. And he’s like ‘I wrote this song,’ I was scared to listen to it like … what if I don’t like it? And I listened to it and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I love this.’
"There was a time I was really insecure about writing. I went through such a drought where I was so insecure. I think when you have a really long career … you start to compete with your own self and get insecure – like, I did that … but how did I do that?
"With this song, he was like … write the rest of it. And I was just like, ‘OK.’ Instead of being like, ‘Oh, I don’t know how to write, and what if he doesn’t like it?’ I just thought about what I felt and I just sent him back a verse that was basically to him. And then we had a song! We were like, ‘Wow, we have a song together!’ and that was it. It’s weird. It’s natural."
