Blake Lively says there were "no fireworks" between her and Ryan Reynolds at first.
Ryan revealed earlier this year that the couple – who had been friends since meeting on the set of the 2011 movie ‘Green Lantern’ – started dating after an awkward double date, in which their chemistry was obvious to everyone, including their respective partners.
He previously said: "About a year after ‘Green Lantern’ had come and gone and we were both single we went on a double date – she was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl – and it was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because we were just like fireworks coming across."
However, in a new interview, Blake quipped: "Went well for him, there were no fireworks for me. No. We were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends. It didn’t click for a good year and a half."
Blake, 29, went on to explain during ‘The Jess Cagle Interview’ on EW Radio, that it was actually her idea for them to turn their friendship into a romance.
She said: "I’m like, ‘Oh hey, wait. Hold on. We could date’. That’s what I appreciate about our relationship is that he’s my friend first and foremost."
Ryan, 40, has also spoken in the past about their strong friendship.
He said: "We were buddies for a long time, which I think is the best way to have a relationship, to start as friends."
The couple went on to tie the knot in 2012 and have two daughters together.
