‘Black Mirror’ looks set to return with a feature length episode this month.
Fans of Charlie Brooker’s dystopian anthology series are eagerly awaiting the show’s fifth season before the end of 2018, but now it appears there could be something special coming to Netflix.
As reported by Esquire, if you search for ‘Bandersnatch’ on the streaming service’s mobile app, there is a tease for the upcoming special with the tagline: "Be right back."
The running time is listed as 90 minutes, which would just be enough to make it the longest ever episode (‘Hated in the Nation’ was 89 minutes).
The cryptic development comes after Miley Cyrus revealed she will be appearing in the show’s fifth season.
Opening up about filming during the Californian wildfires last month, she recently said: "There’s a lot of dimension to it, and actually it was while the devastation of Malibu was happening, and it was a really weird learning experience for me because I was so far from home and the show is already really dark, and it’s already kind of eerie when you’re there the whole time.
"But I learned a lot about myself, and I think I was able to use that and put that into it."
Meanwhile, Brooker himself has been forced to silence fans’ speculation about the upcoming episodes, and shut down the idea of a sequel to ‘San Junipero’.
He previously explained: "I wouldn’t necessarily want to revisit those characters, because we’re very happy with where they ended up and their story.
"But that’s not to say that we couldn’t revisit that world, if there was a compelling reason to do so."
