‘Birds of a Feather’ are set to film a Christmas special.
The long-standing hit comedy series, which first aired in 1989 and was revived 15 years later in 2014 – will return for an hour-long episode over the festive season and will see the trio Sharon Theodopolopodous (Pauline Quirke), Dorien Green (Lesley Joseph) and Tracey Stubbs (Linda Robson) jet off to a warmer climate.
Speaking about the forthcoming episode, Pauline told the Mirror Online: "Us birds together abroad can only mean one thing – mayhem!"
Whilst Lesley – who is known for her character’s eccentric fashion sense – said: "I’m excited to be flying abroad again with the birds. I can’t wait to put the nails back on."
Although the location and the plot has yet to be unveiled Linda – who is currently a guest host on the chat show ‘Loose Women’ teased it will be "brilliant".
She said: "The storyline is brilliant and we’re all so looking forward to an amazing adventure."
However, the Christmas extravaganza will be the only time the girls reunite because the actresses have clashing schedules, which means there will not be a new series of the sitcom to air in January next year.
Although there are talks the sitcom may return later next year when the leading ladies have more time on their hands.
Meanwhile, Lesley, has hinted a ‘Birds of a Feather’/’Benidorm’ crossover series could be in the works.
Speaking previously, the 70-year-old star said: "We’re waiting to hear what we’re going to do. We’re not sure at the moment but ITV have loved it and we’re all waiting to hear if we’re doing another series or a special. I want to go abroad.
"Linda Robson is queen of the tweets and somebody tweeted her, ‘Why don’t we do ‘Birds’ meets ‘Benidorm’?’
"Can you actually imagine ‘Birds of a Feather’ go to Benidorm? It would just be a match made in heaven."
