Bill Murray will have a cameo in the new ‘Ghostbusters’ film.
The veteran star "wanted to be a part" of the rebooted movie, which sees Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones play the paranormal fighting gang.
Director Paul Feig revealed to Yahoo Movies: "Bill worked with Melissa in ‘St Vincent’… and Kristen knows him really well. One of the reasons he did it, I think he liked the role we wrote for him. But he also just likes these actors, and just wanted to be a part of it. And he didn’t want to give any stamp of disapproval by not coming on board."
The 65-year-old actor played Peter Venkman in the original film released in 1984.
And he’s not the only member of the previous cast who was eagre to revisit their old stomping ground.
Sigourney Weaver and Dan Aykroyd, who played Dana Barrett and Ray Stantz respectively, are also set to appear in the new movie to be released in July.
Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth has been revealed to be playing a nerdy assistant and has shed his macho image in favour of a pair of square specs and waistcoat, for the female-driven instalment.
Chris will be taking on the position previously held by Annie Potts’ stern secretary Janine Melnitz over 30 years after the original film took the world by storm.
