Sheila E., The Roots, D’Angelo and Janelle Monáe will pay tribute to Prince at the BET Awards.
The quartet will be among the artists who take to the stage to remember the late icon at the 2016 BET Awards on June 26.
BET announced the line-up on Twitter, writing: "@SheilaEdrummer, @JanelleMonae, @theroots and @TheDangelo are only a few … #BETAwards #CelebratePrince (sic)."
The BET’s Twitter account previously slammed Madonna’s tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards, by saying: "Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you."
The tweet was since deleted by Madonna hit back at critics who were unimpressed with her rendition of the legendary singer’s classics ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ and ‘Purple Rain’ at last month’s ceremony.
Taking to her Instagram account the day after the event, the 57-year-old star uploaded a photograph of herself adorned in a purple floral flared jumpsuit, a feather boa and a leather bag with ‘dealer’ printed on it.
She accompanied the striking image with the caption: "Anyone who wants to do a tribute to Prince is welcome to. Whatever your age Gender or skin Color. If you loved him and he inspired you then show it!!!! I love Prince 4 ever (sic)"
And Questlove, who introduced Madonna’s performance, wrote on Twitter: "In the upcoming award season for ’17 there will be a gang of tributes. Naturally there will be folded arms & shade thrown because the Purple Standard is hard boots to fill & a lot of us don’t wanna come [to] grips [with] the fact that Prince – (an on the surface) face of health & invincible agelessness – [succumbed] to something so… friggin basic (sic)."
Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in April at the age of 57 and the cause of death has been confirmed as an accidental opioid overdose.
