Ben Foster is to star alongside Christian Bale in ‘Hostiles.’
The ‘Warcraft’ star is latest cast member to be announced for Scott Cooper’s tale of an army captain, played by 42-year-old Bale, who agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief back to his tribal lands in the year 1892.
It will mark the second time Bale and Foster have worked together, as they also co-starred in 2007 western ‘3:10 to Yuma’.
The frontier drama also stars ‘Gone Girl’ actress Rosamund Pike as a young widow who has lost her family and joins the group as they make a harrowing and perilous journey from an isolated army outpost in New Mexico to the grasslands of Montana, during which they overcome the hostile Comanche tribes and punishing landscape.
Foster, 35, joins a cast that already also includes West Studi, Adam Beach, Q’orianka Kilcher, Stephen Lang, Peter Mullan, Michael Parks and singer/actor Ryan Bingham – who, as well as starring, will be composing songs for the soundtrack.
The film has begun filming in New Mexico and is expected to be released next year.
