Ben Fogle used breast milk to cure his eye infection.
The 43-year-old TV adventurer, who has rowed the Atlantic and ran across the Sahara Desert, took to Twitter to reveal his wife had squirted her sister’s breast milk in his inflamed eyeball in the hope it would kill the bacteria invading his vision.
He wrote: "OMG my wife has just put her sister’s breast milk in my eye to cure an infection. (sic)"
Although initially concerned about what his wife, Marina, had done, it appears the use of breast milk may have helped as the ‘Animal Park’ presenter.
He later added: "Update on the eye. I’m going in for more breast milk. (sic)"
The thrill seeker – who first shot to fame after an appearance on ‘Castaway’ in 2000 alongside his pet dog – is known for undertaking challenging obstacles but recently told BANG Showbiz he needs adventure to keep him excited about life.
He said: "I always need a big physical challenge every few years. As I get older it helps to keep me fit and healthy – and sane.
"I did a series a few years ago called the ‘Secret Life of Crocodiles’ where I went scuba diving with wild Nile crocodiles without any protection, no cages, no chainmail.
"It was pretty terrifying. They’ve actually banned it now because the presenter that did it after me lost his arm."
Despite several near fatal incidents, Ben is not letting the risk to his health hold him back as he is currently juggling filming for his new series, working on his new book and promoting his new campaign, Act Against Lungworm.
