Bastille were forced to cancel their New York show last night (04.10.16).
The ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers had to postpone their concert at The Bowery Ballroom hours before they were due to play after frontman Dan Smith "strained" his voice, and the star admitted he was "reluctantly" taking medical advice to rest his vocal cords.
He wrote on his Instagram page: "Hi New York People. I’m absolutely gutted to be writing this, but unfortunately we have to reschedule tonight’s show. I’ve strained my voice and the advice I’ve been given – which we’re very reluctantly taking after deliberating all afternoon – is to postpone the show and rest my voice so it doesn’t risk further damage.
"This isn’t something we’ve ever done in years of touring so I feel very weird writing this. We’ve been so excited about playing at The Bowery again and I can’t apologise enough for messing you guys around."
The band – who are also made up of Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris Wood – plan to reschedule the concert.
Dan added: "We’re working on a rescheduled date which I hope you can all make. More info on that will be shared as soon as possible.
"Huge apologies again from me and the guys
"Dan x (sic)"
Bastille didn’t give any indication whether they will be able to play their show at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall on Wednesday night (05.10.16).
