Ayda Field mocked Robbie Williams’ past drug use during ‘The X Factor’ auditions.
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker entered rehab in 2007 for treatment for prescription drugs addiction, and whilst on their second day on the judging panel for the ITV talent competition, 39-year-old Ayda poked fun at her spouse’s turbulent past.
Robbie – who has admitted to taking ecstasy, speed, and acid – told a Flower Power-style act with circus-like dancers and fire-eaters they were "too weird", when Ayda teased that it should be right up his street.
She joked: "I’m surprised you’re not feeling it because you usually like anything that involves you getting high."
During the recording, Ayda also teased her 44-year-old husband – with whom she has Teddy, five, and Charlton, three – about cross-dressing.
After the former Take That star asked to borrow the outfit worn by a drag act, Ayda said: "Don’t make out like that’s the first time you’ve borrowed a dress."
The jovial comments come after the couple – who are joined by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson and show creator Simon Cowell on the judging panel – had just as much fun on their first day on the job earlier this week.
Robbie and Ayda put their relationship on display during the London auditions for the upcoming series, with no subject off limits for their jibes.
As they talked about one hopeful’s pet, Robbie made a joke about sex toys as he quipped: "Ayda’s got a rabbit."
His wife blushed and said: "Different kind, Rob, different kind of rabbit."
The singer laughed and said: "Let’s not go there now."
Audience members at the SSE Arena, Wembley, in north London, were impressed by the couple’s performance on the panel.
One said: "It just worked. They’re going to be the stars of the series, the way they work together is just really funny and natural.
"They went down a storm and Ayda had no problem sticking up for herself.
"She even got a few cheeky digs in at Simon Cowell."
