Aston Merrygold has joined the cast of ‘Almost Never’.
The JLS singer will take on the role of band manager Jordan in the CBBC comedy-drama show, which will return to the channel for a second series in late October and also stars Emily Atack, Kimberly Wyatt, and Colin Hoult.
Aston said: "I’m super excited to join such a talented cast and hopefully use some of my experience in the music industry as inspiration for my role.
"I can’t wait to get stuck into such a fantastic series."
The programme follows the trials and tribulations of boy band The Wonderland, who the 31-year-old singer’s character manages, as they try to make it big in the music industry alongside arch rivals Girls Here First.
Series one featured guest appearances from Fleur East and Tess Daly, and saw The Wonderland embark on the road to pop stardom.
Mya-Lecia Naylor, who tragically died aged 16 in April, starred in the first series as Mya, a member of the girl band Girls Here First.
This isn’t Aston’s first foray into acting. The singer starred in romantic-comedy movie ‘Boogie Man’ alongside the likes of Nick Moran and Leoni Elliott.
The motion picture told the story of a British-Indian teen who struggles with his cultural heritage in London, and he falls for a 20-something actress and model.
Aston also appeared on TV when he starred in the 15th series of BBC Latin and ballroom show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, on which he was partnered up with Janette Manrara, finishing in 10th position.
