Ashley Roberts has been added to the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ line-up.
The 36-year-old former ‘Pussycat Dolls’ member is the ninth contestant announced for the BBC One reality TV show, joining stars including Stacey Dooley, Dr Ranj Singh, Graeme Swann, Vick Hope, Katie Piper, Faye Tozer, Danny John-Jules and Joe Sugg.
She commented: "I am beyond excited and grateful to be part of the ‘Strictly’ family! I’m going to put my heart and soul into this new adventure and can’t wait to have fun with the team! Bring on the sequins, glitz and glamour!"
Ashley is a presenter, musician and actress and is best known for being a former member of The Pussycat Dolls.
During her seven years in The Pussycat Dolls the group sold over 54 million records worldwide and won multiple music awards.
Since leaving the group in 2010, Ashley has had a successful broadcast career, with credits that include regular appearances on ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’, judging on ‘Dancing On Ice’ and ‘Let It Shine’, starring roles in Keith Lemon’s comedy series ‘Coming In America’ and ‘The Sketch Show’.
She has also taken part in reality TV competitions ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ and ‘The Jump’.
The ‘Don’t Cha’ singer is expected to be one of the favourites – alongside the likes of Steps star Faye – to win this year’s Glitterball Trophy due to her previous dance experience in The Pussycat Dolls.
The ‘When I Grow Up’ hitmaker also studied modern dance in California and has featured as a backing dancer in numerous music videos, including Pink’s ‘Trouble’ and Counting Crows’ ‘Accidentally In Love’.
