Asan N’Jie has been sacked by ‘Emmerdale’ bosses after he got embroiled in a heated bust-up with Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice Awards, during which he threatened to "kill" the ‘Hollyoaks’ star.
Photos and videos emerged from the event, which was held at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel on Monday night (09.09.19), of Asan, 25, and Jamie, 44, squaring up to one another and Asan shouting "do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you" and "I’m going to f***ing knife you".
Following a meeting held by bosses with Asan on Wednesday (11.09.19) a decision was made to fire him from his role as Ellis Chapman on the ITV soap.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: "’Emmerdale’ suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday (10.09.19) pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.
"ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect."
Apologising for his actions, Asan issued his own statement in which he described his behaviour at the event as "completely unacceptable and very much out of character".
He said: "I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole ‘Emmerdale’ team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
Asan first joined the series as Ellis – the son of Jessie Grant – in September 2018 and he was part of a dramatic knife crime storyline which led to him being nominated for the Best Newcomer prize at the TV Choice Awards.
The ceremony had been a successful one for ‘Emmerdale’ as it was named Best Soap on the night.
