Ant and Dec pick up OBE

Ant and Dec received their OBE at Buckingham Palace on Friday (27.01.17) morning.
The comedy double act – whose full names are Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly – couldn’t hold back their smiles as they picked up their trophies in recognition of their services to broadcasting and entertainment from the Prince of Wales.
The pair, who are both 41, were joined by their wives Lisa Armstrong and Ali Astall at the royal place of residence as they posed for photographs as a foursome later on.
The duo’s medals come just two days after they secured three trophies at the National Television Awards at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday (25.01.17) evening.
Ant and Dec were crowned Best TV Presenters for the 16th year in a row, their show ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ swiped the gong for Best Entertainment Show, while ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ picked up the accolade for Best Challenge Show.
Ant said at the time: "Thank you very much this is just mad. We were chatting in the car on the way here and we have won it year after year after year. But we said this year if we lost out to Mel and Sue, who I think were remarkable on ‘Bake Off’, then that would have been a good shout. So well done girls."
Dec added: "Thankfully we didn’t. We are thrilled. If anything we get more and more grateful every year because we are never quite sure when this run is going to end. The fact that it hasn’t tonight, we are thoroughly grateful to everyone that voted for us.
Thank you so, so much. We really do appreciate it."
The pair said they were in "shock" to be the first award winners of the night.
Accepting their gong for Entertainment Programme, Ant said: It really is our baby and, it’s a bit of a shock first award up, but what a thrill."
Dec added: "Thank you, thank you so much, thank you to all of the talented people that stand behind us here and come up with all the ideas and all of that.
"We have so much fun doing it and are thrilled you like watching it.
We’re back at the end of February for another run."
