Anneka Rice is reportedly being lined up for this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 59-year-old presenter – whose pert posterior became a topic of conversation in the 80s when she appeared on ‘Treasure Hunt’ in a tight jumpsuit – has been approached by booking bosses as they’re hoping to sign her up for the forthcoming series of the ballroom and latin show following Debbie McGee’s stint last year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bookers are very keen to get Anneka and know she would be a huge signing.
"After Debbie McGee’s popularity last year there is a sense the more mature lady does well and resonates with older viewers.
"They’re in talks and hoping that she finally says yes."
Anneka got her first big television gig in 1982 when she became a skyrunner on Channel 4’s ‘Treasure Hunt’, which was hosted by newsreader Kenneth Kendall.
The gameshow proved a huge hit with viewers and went on to be nominated for Best Light Entertainment Programme at the TV BAFTAs in 1986.
Her figure-hugging catsuit on the show also bagged her the Rear of the Year award, before she left the programme two years later in 1988 because she fell pregnant.
She then went on to host BBC One’s ‘Challenge Anneka’, which saw the host being given a task to accomplish within a certain period of time, for five years in 1987.
The reality game show was then rebooted in 2006 by ITV for a one-off special.
Anneka now hosts an arts show called ‘The Happening’ on BBC Radio 2.
Meanwhile, the line up for this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is yet to be confirmed but it’s believed Stormzy’s girlfriend Maya Jama, Union J’s Josh Cuthbert and football pundit Chris Kamara are also in talks about taking part in the new series.
