Anne Hegerty and her co-stars from the ‘The Chase’ will take on international geniuses in new show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Chaser?’ and they will also test their brains against intelligent robots.
The 61-year-old general knowledge expert and her co-stars Mark Labett, Jenny Ryan and Shaun Wallace are to appear in the new ITV series which will see them test themselves against adult and child quiz experts in the US, Japan and the UK.
As well as their human opponents, Anne and the rest of the Chasers will also tackle some of the cleverest AI robots every to have been created when they head to the Far East.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Anne and The Chasers will be travelling across the world to prove that they can outsmart every living being – and robots. It’s also a lighthearted look at how we measure and judge intelligence and how Âchildren, for example, can be far cleverer than adults due to their developing brains figuring things out such as technology in ways grown-ups can’t."
‘Are You Smarter Than A Chaser?’ is set to hit screens this winter.
With her latest project it seems Anne has had a change of heart from earlier this year when she admitted she was thinking of retiring.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant admitted that her schedule was "bonkers" and often left her contemplating giving up work.
She said: "My schedule has gone bonkers and I find it overwhelming most of the time. Not a day goes by that I don’t think it would be cool to retire."
However, she does credit ‘The Chase’ – hosted by Bradley Walsh – with pulling her out of a difficult period of her life.
Anne – who has been a Chaser since Series 2 of the programme – said: "Before ‘The Chase’ came into my life I was very demoralised. I was a proofreader working from home, but because I’m autistic I found it difficult to get organised and so I was losing work."
