Anna Camp says women are "hungry" for more female-led films.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ star thinks it is great that there are more movies in Hollywood that have women in the starring roles but have urged for people not to get "complacent".
She said: "We have a long way to go, but I feel like people are seeing that there’s such a demand for women-led movies and projects. Women audiences are so thirsty and hungry for that that people are starting to really supply it.
"I’m hoping that this surge continues … I hope that the conversation continues and people don’t remain complacent … I like seeing stories about men, just like men would love seeing stories about a woman. It’s the craziest thing to think that women-led movies can’t make money because obviously, we’re completely blowing that idea out of the water."
Anna has never personally experienced the gender wage gap but knows all about how sexism in Hollywood can affect people.
She added to stylecaster.com: "You start to realise, ‘Well, I want to play the guy part. They have so much more deep roles. They’re integral to the plot.’ Why can’t that be easily told from a woman’s point of view?"
Anna is married to Skylar Astin and admits she falls "more in love" with him every day.
She gushed previously: "We fall in love with each other more and more every day we’ve been together. And I know it sounds, like, gross, everyone’s probably gonna throw up about that, but it’s actually really true. We water the flower, We both send each other cards and he sends me flowers all the time. We’re both working a lot and we do that to maintain that love connection – I think we’re both really kind of good at that."
