The 15-year-old actress, who was praised for her recent performance as Holly March in ‘The Nice Guys’ alongside Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, is the latest star to join the impressive cast of the superhero blockbuster reboot.
Sony and Marvel studios are keeping tight lipped on who the young Australian is set to play however, given her age, it’s likely her character will befriend teenager Peter Parker and his webslinger alter ego.
The movie sees Tom Holland on his second outing as Spider-Man, following his debut in ‘Captain America Civil War’ earlier this year.
The star-studded cast also includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May once again, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and his superhero alter ego Iron Man and Tyne Daly as a yet unknown character.
Stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress has also signed up for the film, joining Donald Glover and Martin Starr.
Michael Keaton will play portray main super villain The Vulture, with Logan Marshall-Green as another baddie.
Disney star Zendaya makes her blockbuster debut in the movie, and though few plot details have been revealed, it’s believed to focus on Parker’s time at high school and the roots of the character.
Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are overseeing the film for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios under both companies deal, in conjunction with Walt Disney Company, to share the rights superhero character.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is scheduled for a July 2017 release.
