Angela Scanlon is reportedly being eyed by ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses.
The 33-year-old television presenter currently co-hosts ‘Robot Wars’ with Dara O’Briain and has presented ‘The One Show’ in the absence of usual host Alex Jones, and bosses for the Latin and ballroom dance competition have been so impressed by her rising talent that they’re reportedly in talks to get her to compete in this year’s series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The BBC always look after their own, and they see Angela as a rising star whose stock they can grow even more by putting her on Strictly. She really impressed on ‘The One Show’ and has done a great job on ‘Robot Wars’."
And Angela isn’t the only star to have been eyed by the show either, as 36-year-old former England football player Wayne Bridge – who appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ last year – could be slipping on his "dancing shoes" as he says he’s been in touch with the programme.
He said earlier this month: "I’ve been in contact with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. So you never know, I could slip my dancing shoes on."
Although contestants for the next series have yet to be confirmed, Shirley Ballas has recently been announced as the new judge on the forthcoming season in replace of Len Goodman, who quit the shoe last year.
And the former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ panellist is "over the moon" she’s been chosen to take over as head judge on the ballroom and latin series when it returns to screens this September.
Speaking previously, she said: "I am so excited and over the moon to have been given this wonderful opportunity. I can’t wait to get in to the ballroom and be part of the incredible and respected judging panel. ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is so loved by the British public, I have always been a massive fan. I just can’t wait!"
