Andy Whyment and his ‘Coronation Street’ co-stars will enjoy a two-week break over the festive period.
The cobbles star – who plays Kirk Sutherland – has just had more than three weeks off from the ITV soap after taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, on which he finished second, and he is set for a rest over the Christmas period along with his fellow Weatherfield residents.
He said: "I might be in work next week. We’ve got filming next week.
"We break up on the 20th for two weeks."
Despite wowing in the jungle, Andy insists he has no desire to land a huge storyline on ‘Corrie’, because he is quite happy for Kirk to "float about" on the cobbles.
He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I’m happy to do what I do. I don’t want a massive storyline. I love playing Kirk. He’s one of those characters who floats about, but is never heavily involved … I’m going back to my job that I love.
"I feel privileged to have been part of ‘Coronation Street’ for 19 years and, touch wood, that continues for a very long time.
"So it was a win-win situation and I’ve done one of the biggest reality shows in the UK and I’ve come second.
"It means a lot to me that I’ve come second and they’ve been voting for Andy Whyment and not Kirk from ‘Corrie’."
Andy’s latest comments come after he revealed before he went into the jungle that he was "guaranteed" to do 80 episodes of ‘Coronation Street’ per year.
The Weatherfield legend – who has played Kirk since 2000 – said: "I am guaranteed 80 episodes. If I do 83 or 84 I am happy days.
"Some people want to be in 150 episodes, whereas I am happy to just do what I do."
