Andy Whyment claims his new jungle fame wont change his "boring" life after he finished second on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 38-year-old soap star – who has played Kirk Sutherland in ‘Coronation Street’ since 2000 – made some new fans this year after heading into the jungle, but he has sworn his newfound fame "certainly won’t change me".
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I’ll still remain myself. I’ll still go to Asda on a Friday, do the big shop with Nic. But I know I’m going to get recognised a lot more now, which is, don’t get me wrong, is nice, but it certainly won’t change me.
"I’m looking forward to getting back and just getting into my normal, boring life of just sitting on the sofa, getting home from work, closing the front door and watching telly."
Andy was reunited with his family – wife Nicola and their two kids 11-year-old Thomas and nine-year-old Holly – on Sunday (08.12.19) when Jacqueline Jossa was crowned Queen of the Jungle.
Andy revealed yesterday (09.12.19) that he shed 11lbs during his time Down Under, and was called "noodle arms" in the jungle as a result of his weight loss.
He said: "I’ve lost five kilos and I didn’t realise I had that kind of weight to lose.
"The top of my arms it feels so thin. Myles started calling me ‘noodle arms’.
"So it’s been a bit mad, really."
He is also glad people would now know him for who he is, rather than his character.
Andy said: "It’s been a mad experience. There were so many highs, and a few lows. I had such an amazing time.
"It felt weird. I’ve been in ‘Coronation Street’ for 19 years and when I’m walking along the streets people say, ‘Oh, there’s Kirk.’ But to know people have got behind Andy Whyment it just meant so much to me and I’m really humbled by that."
