Andrew Whyment is "guaranteed" to do 80 episodes of ‘Coronation Street’ per year.
The Weatherfield legend has played Kirk Sutherland on the ITV soap since 2000, and he has revealed his contract guarantees he will appear in around a quarter of Corrie’s 300-plus episodes a year.
He said: "I am guaranteed 80 episodes. If I do 83 or 84 I am happy days.
"Some people want to be in 150 episodes, whereas I am happy to just do what I do."
Andrew is keen to remain on the cobbles for as long as show bosses want him to, and admits he has a "really good work/ life balance".
He added to the Daily Star newspaper: "I have always said I will stay there as long as they will have me.
"I love the show and i have been brought up on ‘Coronation Street’ all my life.
"I have a really good work/ life balance.
"I’ve seen both my kids’ first steps and not a lot of dads can say that.
"I am home every night."
The 38-year-old star will be one of the late entrant contestants on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ this week alongside former ‘EastEnders’ actor Cliff Parisi, but he tried to throw fans off the scent last week when he shared a picture of himself at a garden centre on the day the official line-up was announced – leaving ‘Corrie’ fans fuming.
He wrote on Instagram: "Being dragged around @bentsgardenhome looking at the Christmas decorations @nicski31 (sic)"
But several soap supporters were disappointed to see he was checking out Christmas decorations rather than preparing to chow down on some creepy crawlies.
