Amrita Acharia’s ‘disastrous’ Good Karma Hospital motorbike lessons

Amrita Acharia was a "disaster" at riding a motorbike in ‘The Good Karma Hospital’.
The 31-year-old actress’ character Dr. Ruby Walker rides her bike to work in the medical drama, but the ‘Game of Thrones’ star cannot even drive in real life and used to steer onto the wrong side of the road when she was having lessons on two wheels before filming.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’m terrible, I’m really bad – I don’t even drive.
"I sometimes drive on the wrong side of the road when I’m on a motorbike, when I had my lessons out here.
"So I was a bit of a disaster. But as long as I can stay on it, start and stop I’m OK."
While Amrita wasn’t much of a motorbike aficionado before shooting the show, she is now determined to land her licence.
She added: "It’s one of my long-term goals to get my licence in the bag."
While the star didn’t know much about motorbikes, she is a big fan of kickboxing and was "delighted" when ‘Good Karma Hospital’ creator Dan Sefton wrote it into her scenes that her character would need to do the exercise – because she got free lessons.
She added: "Dan Sefton was inspired because he’d seen a video of me boxing on my Instagram or something, so he thought, ‘Ruby should try boxing this year.’
"I was delighted because I got kickboxing lessons.
"I do it outside of acting. Fitness is a big part of my life so that was an easy part of Ruby to get into."
‘The Good Karma Hospital’ Series Two and Complete Series One and Two Box Set are out now on DVD.
