All Saints to record new music

All Saints are planning a big chart comeback.

The 1990s girl group – who had hit songs such as ‘Never Ever’ and ‘Pure Shores’ – recently reunited to support Backstreet Boys on the UK leg of their ‘A World Like This’ tour, but they are now set to release new music in a bid to rule the charts again.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The girls have loved being back together again and this time around, being that much older and wiser, aren’t taking any nonsense.

"They’ve had a few meetings with songwriters and management, and the feeling is there is still a gap in the market for a group like them.

"The plan is to get back in the studio in the summer and produce a handful of new tracks so long as they are all happy with the results, a single will be released at the end of 2014."

Billed as an edgier rival to the Spice Girls, All Saints – consisting of sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton, Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis – topped the UK singles charts on five occasions but split up in 2001.

The band initially made a comeback in 2006, but despite the success of their lead single ‘Rock Steady’ – which reached number three in the UK singles chart – their album ‘Studio 1’ was less successful, charting outside of the Top 40.
