Alison King keen for Corrie’s Carla to settle down

Alison King is keen for her ‘Coronation Street’ character to settle down because it would be "far easier to play" than her emotional rocky romance scenes.
The 45-year-old actress’ alter-ego Carla Connor looks set to get close to former flame Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in the coming weeks when he comes forward as a potential investor for her bid to buy the factory back from Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), and Alison is hoping for some "lighter" upcoming scenes.
She said: "It would be far easier to play, I’ve had a lot of drama, it is nice to get a balance and play the lighter stuff and some comedy."
Carla has had a tough time this year after her half-brother Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) donated a kidney to her, but he later took his own life, leaving her devastated.
However, Alison cannot get enough of being part of the Connor clan, and is excited to see what the family get up to in the near future with her potentially taking over Underworld once again, and Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) buying the Rovers Return.
She said: "They have got their fingers in so many pies now. There are so many different and complex characters and they are all brilliant, Kate who is cray and impulsive and caring, Jenny thinking she rules the roost and Michelle and Carla who are more like sister than real sisters.
"Johnny and Carla are closer than ever, when he held her hand after the inquest she was made up, she needs that father figure in her life and now she has it."
