Alexander Armstrong wants to install a TV studio and a gun room into his new house.
The ‘Pointless’ presenter – who has four sons with wife Hannah Bronwen Snow – has had plans approved for various leisure facilities in the basement of his £5 million 10-bedroom Oxfordshire mansion, which also include a recording studio and a wine room, The Sun newspaper reports.
The 48-year-old presenter – who is also a singer and has released three albums – has previously spoken of how he "grew up" shooting and still does so "very occasionally".
He said: "I shoot very occasionally.
"I grew up shooting . . . but because I do shoot I think it’s important to stand up for it.
"And I’d like people to be honest about what they don’t like about country sports, because if it’s actually the people you don’t like then I’d much rather they would actually just say that."
Alexander recently admitted he loves unwinding in the kitchen but doesn’t get the chance to cook as often as he’d like because he doesn’t get home from work until late.
He said: "I used to do a lot of cooking when I was a jobbing actor and comedian, but now I’m usually home quite late, so it’s harder. I do absolutely love cooking.
"Years ago I did a course and it was really useful – learning things such as how to make a roux or knowing how to thicken something. I’m quite well-versed in the basics now.
"If I’m cooking alone in the evening, I love opera. I usually put on some Verdi, but I’m currently rediscovering Richard Strauss Die Frau ohne Schatten."
