Alan Carr’s Chatty Man was axed over lack of celebrity guests

Alan Carr’s ‘Chatty Man’ was axed because bosses were struggling to book celebrity guests.
The 40-year-old comedian has admitted his well-loved chat show, which ran from 2009 and saw the likes of Kim Kardashian West and Justin Bieber grace the golden sofa, was given the chop because it was proving hassle trying to secure three new stars for the mid-week slot on Channel 4.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (17.10.16), he said: "Do you know what it’s like, with chat shows, I mean 16 series. I’ve got an amazing two-year deal with Channel 4, and I can do whatever I want, I love you so much thank you Channel 4.
"But I don’t want when this ends next year is all I’ve done is a chat show. I want to try new things, so I want to try something a bit different. Booking three guests on a Wednesday, you’ve got to have three guests on the sofa and it’s just getting harder and harder."
However, although his famous chat show has been taken off air, Alan – who is known for his high-pitched voice – is set to bound back onto screens later this year with a new star-based series.
The show, which is reportedly called ‘Alan Meets’, will see the presenter jet abroad as celebrity guests let him and his camera crew into their lives for a short period of time.
An insider explained: "Alan is really excited about getting his new project off the ground. The idea is that he will travel around the world meeting all sorts of A-list stars, spend quality time with them and show a different side to viewers, while finding out some secrets."
And, although details surrounding the new series are being kept tightly under wraps for the time being, it’s thought Alan jetted across to Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this summer to meet his first guest Calvin Harris following his split from Taylor Swift.
The source said: "He went out to Vegas recently where Calvin does his nightclub residency and did some filming with him.
"It was only a test run and the format is in its early stages of development, so it’s yet to be decided whether the Calvin stuff will make the screen, but it was a good start."
