Alan Carr’s partner dressed in his mum’s clothes the first time he met her.
The 40-year-old television presenter got engaged to his partner Paul Drayton last month, and the star has admitted his beau’s eccentric style led him to try on his parents clothes when he was first introduced to the Carr family.
Speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, Alan said: "He’s [Paul’s] a bit like a Sunderland Su Pollard [wearing] things you wouldn’t usually put together … I was terrified of introducing [him to my parents] but I thought you’ve got to introduce them so I took him up to Northampton and I put them in a really nice restaurant. Paul turns up, he’s got yellow crocs on, green shorts, a really disgusting outfit and my mum goes ‘Oh Paul don’t wear that, this is a nice restaurant go [and get changed into something of Alan’s.]’ Well we’re leaving in about five minutes he’s at the top of the stairs he goes ‘Hey Christine is this alright?’ [And he was wearing her clothes]."
But despite his lack of fashion sense, the star of ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’ thinks his fiancé is a "lovely man".
He said: "I thought I’d be single forever, I really did. He is a lovely man isn’t he!"
Speaking previously about the engagement, the chat show host said he wanted his good friend Adele to perform at the wedding.
He said: "The engagement only happened last week so I don’t know exactly what we’ll do.
"But a big old wedding and we’ll get Adele singing ‘Someone Like You’."
