Adrian Edmondson to join EastEnders

Adrian Edmondson is set to join the cast of ‘EastEnders’.
The 62-year-old actor and comedian – who has already enjoyed an illustrious career in television and was a comedy heavyweight in the 80s and 90s – will take on the role of Daniel Cook in the BBC soap later this year.
Daniel will be a new love interest for Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), and has been described as "the perfect antidote" for her as she continues her treatment for ovarian cancer. Jean is set to be unsure of Daniel at first, but warms up to him when he offers his support in his own unique way.
Speaking about his new role, Adrian said in a statement: "There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in ‘EastEnders’ – so I feel it’s a kind of tradition! The other two being Tom Watt (Lofty Holloway) and Paul Bradley (Nigel Bates)".
While executive producer Jon Sen added: "Adrian’s a phenomenal talent who will bring his unique blend of intelligence, warmth and humour to the role of Daniel. We’re all over the moon he’s coming to Walford and can’t wait for this love story to hit screens later this year."
Adrian – who has previously enjoyed roles in ‘The Young Ones’ and ‘Bottom’, and more recently in the likes of ‘Holby City’, ‘Bancroft’, and ‘War and Peace’ – has already begun filming his role, and his first scenes are due to air this summer.
